Here at the Guelph Humane Society, we require volunteers to help us out with a variety of different tasks from walking dogs, cleaning cages, socializing small animals, cuddling cats, driving our animals to vet appointments, driving injured and orphaned wildlife to licensed rehabilitators, planning events, and so much more! Despite the suspension of our in-shelter volunteer program for the majority of 2021 due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, our volunteers still managed to log over 2800 hours of volunteer service – how PAWsome!?
Sandra is one of over 250 volunteers supporting us here at the GHS. Sandra first joined our volunteer team in early 2020, just before the covid-19 pandemic hit. However, despite the cancellations and closures, Sandra has still managed to find a way to help. From helping plan and run events, like our first in-person Adoption Event at 190 Hanlon Creek Boulevard, to fostering, Sandra is always willing to lend a helping hand. Sandra has welcomed 5 foster cats into her home in just the past 7 months, providing a warm, relaxing, and loving environment while cats Mufasa, Tanya, Lucy, Michael, and Mackey awaited their Happy Tail.
Volunteers are so important in order for us to save as many animals as we do every year and we have a variety of different volunteer roles here at the GHS to fit all abilities and personalities! From high school students to senior citizens, the Guelph Humane Society welcomes community members who are dependable, have a sincere desire to share their time, and of course, have a love of animals. If you are interested in volunteering with us in the future, be sure to check out our different roles at the link below. Once we are able to onboard new volunteers again, volunteer applications will be available online.
