If you are an animal lover, the Guelph Humane Society is a great place to volunteer! We not only have an enthusiastic team of staff with many years of experience in animal care and welfare, but have over 250 active volunteers, who provide thousands of hours of service each year and generously share their skills and knowledge with us.

Jan is one of our amazing volunteers supporting us here at the GHS. Although Jan just joined our team of volunteers in November 2021, she has already become a well-known face around the GHS (even with her mask on!). Since November, Jan has been assisting our Animal Care Team with their “dirty work”, coming in each week to help clean the mountains of dishes and laundry our over 3000 animals create and has even helped at a number of events, including our 2021 Holiday Open House and Home for the Holidays Adoption Event. Furthermore, (yes, there’s more!) Jan has been fostering Michael, a 5-year-old cat who has been awaiting his Happy Tail for 4 months, since the holidays – has Jan ever been busy in her first 4 months volunteering with us!

Volunteers are so important in order for us to save as many animals as we do each year! From high school students to senior citizens, the Guelph Humane Society welcomes community members who are dependable, have a sincere desire to share their time, and of course, have a love of animals. It is because of our dedicated volunteers like Jan, that we are able to make every day special for Michael and all the other deserving animals in our care who are waiting to find their loving home. If you are interested in volunteering with us in the future, be sure to check out our different roles at the link below.
