Did you know, the Guelph Humane Society helps over 1000 cats within Guelph and Wellington County each year!? Thanks to our dedicated Feline Friend volunteers, cats in our care are able to get some extra love and affection while they await their loving home.

Betty is one of our wonderful Feline Friend volunteers and has been volunteering with GHS since 2017. When our in-shelter volunteer program isn’t on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Betty comes into the shelter every week and spends time with the many felines in our care, from kittens to our purrfect seniors, like Mahal (pictured). In her 5 years volunteering with GHS, Betty has volunteered over 360 hours socializing the cats in our care and recently constructed a winter cat shelter to help keep a feral colony of cats here in Guelph warm during the cold winter months! How PAW-some is that!?

Being a Feline Friend volunteer requires some knowledge of feline body language and can involve a bit of patience as some kitties may be more comfortable with human interaction than others. While some cats may spend more time in our care before they get adopted, we’re lucky to have dedicated volunteers like Betty who give them plenty of love while they await their Happy Tail!
