When we were ready to adopt another cat after losing our senior cat we fell in love with Leo’s picture on the GHS website. His story made us want him even more. Surrendered, six years old and suffering with diabetes, we knew he would have the odds against him for being adopted. We went to meet him and immediately applied to adopt him. When we brought him home in February he was on 3 units of insulin twice a day. After a blood test in April his insulin was lowered to 2 units twice a day. Now, in June, we are thrilled, after a full glucose curve yesterday, that he is in remission. We no longer need to inject him with insulin. We’re still monitoring him and giving him his diabetic formula food. He’s doing awesome. Getting more and more loving every day and has started sleeping on the bed with us some nights. He loves playing with his sister. We couldn’t imagine the house without him.
