August 1, 2025 (GUELPH, ON) – The Guelph Humane Society’s (GHS) annual Cutest Pet Photo Contest is back and local pets are once again competing for the crown, all in support of animals still waiting for their forever homes.
The fundraiser, which runs from August 1 to August 29, invites community members to submit photos of their beloved companion animals, dogs, cats, rabbits, reptiles and more, for a chance at top prizes and local fame.
While the contest sparks lighthearted competition, it also plays a serious role in raising funds for sheltering, veterinary care, and rehoming services for more than 3,000 animals served by GHS each year.
“It’s such a fun way to celebrate the pets we love,” said Lisa Veit, Executive Director, GHS. “But what makes it really special is knowing that every vote cast will have a lasting impact by changing a life.”
Votes are cast online through the contest website, with each $1 donation counting as one vote. The pet with the most votes at the end of the contest will win a professional photo session with Craig Robinson Animal Photography, a custom photo book, and a framed print featured in the GHS lobby throughout 2026.
Second and third-place finishers will also receive mini photography sessions and framed portraits. Also, top vote-getters among dogs, cats, and other animals will take home special prize baskets as well.
This year’s contest also features a new incentive: any pet that raises $100 or more in votes will receive a “Ruff Sketch” paw-trait, a one-of-a-kind hand-drawn portrait to celebrate your pet created by GHS staff.
“These sketches are quirky, fun and full of heart. I love how excited people get about them,” Veit said. “This contest lets people be part of that journey and it starts with just one vote.”
Entries cost $20 and include 20 votes. All proceeds from the contest directly support the Guelph Humane Society’s programs for lost, injured, abandoned, and neglected animals.
The contest closes at 11:59 p.m. on Thursday, August 29. To enter or vote, visit:
