Every spring, over 400 kittens come into our care here at the Guelph Humane Society ranging from just a couple days old to several months. As these kittens grow and await their spay and neuter surgeries before going up for adoption, they stay in one of 150 foster homes where they receive plenty of love, care, and socialization.
Cherise and her family provide one of these special homes where our kittens stay and have been doing so since 2017. Over the past 4 years, Cherise has welcomed over 70 cats and kittens into her home, the youngest being Diana & Natasha who were just 9 days old when they arrived in Cherise’s care. While it is always difficult to say goodbye to an adorable kitten, Cherise and her family love the experience of seeing all these cats learn to trust humans and grow into healthy & happy pets, and it has become a tradition for Cherise and her children to send a loot bag filled with treats and toys and a letter off with their foster kitties as they join their new family.
Being a foster parent can sometimes involve nights of little sleep and days of demanding animals looking for play or food, especially when you have kittens who need to be bottle-feed throughout the night! But thanks to dedicated volunteers like Cherise, we are able to provide a warm, loving home where our kittens can thrive and grow into wonderful additions to any family.
