Here at the Guelph Humane Society, we strive to ensure every animal in our care gets the love and attention they deserve while they await their Happy Tail, and we couldn’t do that without our team of over 300+ volunteers.
Nina is one of our paw-some Canine Companion volunteers and has been volunteering with GHS since 2019. Now our Canine Companion volunteers aren’t just dog walkers – they play a big part in helping us socialize the dogs that come into our care. Volunteers like Nina form special bonds with the animals they spend time with. Nina will be the first to tell you that there’s nothing like a dog jumping up and hugging you “thank you” and “goodbye” as they head off to their furever home.
Being a Canine Companion volunteer can be tiring with those long walks and running around in the play pen and can require a lot of patience for those dogs that take a little bit longer to come out of their shell. But the reward of getting to be one of their special, trusted people is worth all the work!
