Help Shape Animal Protection in Ontario! Survey Deadline Is June 6!
Thank you for your support of the Guelph Humane Society, and the animals that we protect. In March, we asked you to reach out to your MPP to let them know how important it is that animals in Guelph and Wellington County continued to be protected, despite the OSPCA’s withdrawal from enforcement. We are happy to share that your voice was heard – you were the voice for the animals, who have no one else.
The Ontario Government has proposed an amendment to the Ontario SPCA Act (Bill 117), which if passed, would enable our organization to continue the enforcement work we are already doing to protect animals in Guelph and Wellington County. This temporary legislative measure will keep animals safe in the interim, while a more robust, transparent and accountable animal protection system can be developed for Ontario. This is what you asked for!

The move will remove authority from OSPCA agents as soon as April 1, 2019, unless the provincial government accepts a three-month transition period offered by the OSPCA.
