Our family adopted Polo in January of 2020. Polo was part of the First Families program. He spent the first years of life as a laboratory beagle. He was released from his duties in the lab in December of 2019. As a laboratory animal, there were many things that he was not used to as a normal dog. He had to be housebroken and was very timid of a lot things and situations around the home. He didn’t understand stairs, was very skittish around other dogs especially larger ones, got very stressed and sick in the car etc. etc. He has come a long way in the year since we welcomed him home. He has the sweetest personality and really loves the outdoors and his walks on the trails. So happy that he enjoys his new home with us and very grateful to the GHS for making the effort to give these dogs a chance at a normal home life.
