In October 2020 my partner and I adopted Calamity (or Midi for short) when she was around 5 months old. I had been researching for months all about cat care but I was worried I wouldn’t be able to provide a good home. But when GHS held the feline frenzy event I finally got the confidence to care for a new furry friend. I saw the posting of this adorable black cat mid meow and she was described as a friendly purring machine. I heard somewhere that black cats are adopted less because to some people they are ‘uninteresting looking’ and can be associated with bad luck. In my eyes I saw this cat as a good luck charm. The first night we had her she cuddled right on my stomach and purred until she fell asleep.
She was nervous at first but she warmed up pretty quickly. She loves to talk to us with her soft little meows and she has even learned to give high-fives in exchange for her favorite treats. There is never a dull moment in our house. She is always playing on her cat tower and chasing her favorite toys (bell balls and springs). Calamity is so friendly, smart and playful. We couldn’t have asked for a better companion!
