Say hello to Mackay!

Mackay’s adoption fee has been generously sponsored by an anonymous donor! We are so grateful to them and hope this will help Mackay find her new home faster!

Mackay was brought into the shelter in December 2017 as a stray, suffering from a severe complication due to a herpes viral infection resulting in damages to her eyes, more severe in the right. Mackay underwent extensive treatment in foster care for several months and visited an ophthalmologist on multiple occasions to determine her long term treatment plan. Mackay’s right eye was removed and her left eye is still partially visible and not causing her problems at this time. It is possible for the left eye to develop problems in the future so her adoptive family would need to keep that under consideration prior to adopting. During her surgery we also were required to extract a tooth. We were able to provide all of this care for Mackay due to our community’s generous donations to our Duke’s Fund!

Mackay is a sweet, loving gal that’s pulled through all of her treatments like a trooper! She can’t wait to meet her new family and settle in!
