I adopted Pecan the gerbil from the GHS at the end of January, and I thought I’d update you on how she is doing! Pecan has settled into her new home really well. It took a little while for her to get comfortable, but now that she’s settled and everything is familiar to her, she’s as happy as can be and is not shy at all. Although she doesn’t like to be handled very much, Pecan LOVES attention and loves showing off her excellent chewing and burrowing skills. Her favorite things are running on her wheel, chewing on cardboard boxes and paper towel tubes, exploring her playpen where she has plenty of space to run around, and, like most gerbils, she really loves hoarding food! She also loves it when you talk to her while she’s playing.
I am so glad I decided to take Pecan home the day I came to visit her at GHS. She has been such a sweet, loving presence in my life and has also provided hours of entertainment. Who knew that such a tiny creature could have such a big personality?Thank you GHS for all you do to find loving homes for sweet creatures big and small!
