I first met Indigo in July with my wife as a volunteer. Immediately I fell in love with her. I’ve never had a dog before but all I wanted was to bring her home. I would go in to volunteer at least 3 times a week (selfishly only to see her) and we would just lay in the grass. Finally after 1.5 months of seeing her passed over and spending so much time in the shelter I had to bring her home. I visited her Labour Day Monday and took her home September 5th, 2017. I knew she had her challenges and it would take time and attention for her to feel home. But what she’s helped me remember is patience, both for myself and with others. Each day holds a new learning experience, a chance to get better. Our past can hold us back if we let it, or we can decide to take a chance and push forward. Where I first saw a dog scared of my house and everyone around, I now see a smiling face who loves adventures, new friends, car rides, and cuddles. She’s my best friend. She’s helped me more than she will ever know.
